Glandex® FAQ

Below are some answers to our most frequently asked questions about Glandex®. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us or call 800-643-7558.

How do I start my pet on Glandex?

If you are using Glandex for the first time, we recommend starting at half (1/2) the recommended dosage for the first 5-7 days, and then increasing to the full recommended dosage after that.  By doing so this allows your pet to adjust to the additional fiber content in Glandex.

How does Glandex work?

Glandex works from the inside out to help maintain healthy anal glands. Glandex's patented formula uses a unique fiber blend to support bulky and firm stools to assist the natural emptying of the anal glands every time your pet defecates. Glandex's patented formula also contains other key ingredients including omega-fatty acids to help support a healthy inflammatory response and to support seasonal allergies by maintaining normal histamine levels. Glandex also contains probiotics and digestive enzymes to support a healthy digestive tract, which in turn supports healthy anal gland function.

Is Glandex safe for my pet?

Yes, Glandex is safe for pets and does not have any major side effects. Mild side effects can include diarrhea, soft stools, or upset stomach when first starting your pet on Glandex due to the increased fiber content. Please note that we recommend starting your pet on half (1/2) the recommended dosage for the first 5 -7 days this allows your pet to adjust to the added fiber. All of the ingredients in Glandex are all-natural and known to be safe. In addition, Glandex is veterinarian recommended and made in the USA at an FDA registered & cGMP compliant facility.

Are there any side effects to using Glandex?

No, there are no known significant or long-term side effects of using Glandex, however, you may notice that your pet’s stools become larger. There is a possibility of mild side effects when first starting your pet on Glandex. These mild side effects are related to the increased fiber content in Glandex and may include soft/loose stools, gas/flatulence, or other mild GI side effects. You can avoid these side effects by giving half (1/2) the recommended dosage for the first 5-7 days to allow your pet to adjust to the increased fiber content in Glandex, and then gradually increase to the full dosage.

How long until I see results in my pet?

On average, the majority of pets see results within 3-5 weeks, however some pets may require up to 2-3 months of regular usage to achieve optimal results.

How long should I continue using Glandex once I begin to see results?

We recommend using Glandex on an ongoing basis in order to maintain healthy anal gland function and support long term anal gland health. It is safe to discontinue Glandex at any time, including if you no longer have concerns for your pet's anal gland health.

How do I give Glandex to my pet?

Glandex Soft Chews

Glandex Soft Chews have a taste that your pet will love. Simply give once daily following the recommended dosing guidelines.

Glandex Powders

Glandex comes as a naturally flavored powder that you give with your pet's food once a day using the recommended dosing guidelines. The best way to give Glandex Powder is to sprinkle it directly on top of your pet's dry food. It can also be mixed with a small amount of warm water to create a gravy that your pet will love! Pets overwhelmingly love the taste of Glandex Powder and tend to eat their food more eagerly with Glandex mixed into it. Should your pet be extremely particular you can mix Glandex Powder into some canned food, yogurt, cottage cheese, peanut butter or any of your pet's other favorite food or treats. Glandex Powder can also be administered directly into your pet's mouth using a syringe or dropper with a small amount of water added.

How many doses are in one bottle of Glandex and what is the daily dose?

Use the following Glandex Dosing Charts to determine the number of doses per bottle of Glandex and how long each bottle will last depending on the size of your pet. These charts also show how much to give your pet

What is the difference between Glandex Powder and Soft Chews?

Our Glandex Powder and Glandex Soft Chews both contain the same active ingredients and both work equally well to help support healthy anal gland function. The main differences is that the Glandex Soft Chews are in a treat form and they are made with real peanut butter while the Glandex Powder comes in a powder form that you sprinkle onto your pet's food and is made with real beef liver, pork liver, or vegan salmon flavoring. Also, please note that while Glandex Powder is for both dogs and cats, our Glandex Soft Chews are recommended for dogs only.

How many calories and grams of fat are in Glandex Powder and Soft Chews?

Glandex Powders have 8 calories and 0.36 grams of fat per teaspoon serving (2.96 g)

Glandex Peanut Butter Soft Chews have 13.7 calories and 0.54 grams of fat per 1 chew serving (4.0 g)

What is the main difference between the three size bottles of Glandex Powder?

All three sizes of Glandex Chews or Powder contain the same key ingredients, concentration, and dosing and the only difference between the different sizes is the amount of Glandex contained in each bottle. We offer three sizes of Glandex to give pet parents more options when purchasing Glandex and since larger pets will need a larger daily amount.

Does Glandex work for cats?

Yes, our Glandex Powder is designed and recommended to help support healthy anal glands in cats. Cats enjoy the taste of Glandex Powders and is easy to administer using the recommended dosing guidelines.

Will Glandex help if my pet's anal glands are "leaking"?

Yes, Glandex can help support pet's that have leaking anal glands who may suddenly leave a discharge or have their anal glands empty spontaneously. Glandex can help in these situations as many pet's with leaking anal glands are either not emptying their glands properly on their own, or have very irritated and inflamed anal glands that are over secreting liquid.

Will I still need to have my pet's anal glands expressed?

It is recommended (but not necessary) to have your pet's anal glands emptied prior to starting Glandex. Intermittent or regular anal gland emptying may still be needed depending upon the severity of your pet's condition, however Glandex helps to support natural emptying of the anal glands. If you ever feel that your pet's anal glands need emptying, please seek proper veterinary attention.

What else can I do to help my pet's anal gland problems?

Along with using Glandex regularly, Glandex Wipes help to maintain proper hygiene and also contain Vitamin E and Aloe to help soothe and clean the area.

  • Diet: It is important to feed a diet that is made from high-quality ingredients and free from excessive fillers to help maintain firm and solid stools. Maintaining your pet's ideal weight is important as overweight pets may have increased difficulty emptying their glands.

  • Exercise: Regular exercise can help to tone and strengthen some of the muscles that help to empty the glands.

  • Allergies: If your pet has allergies than reducing exposure to these allergies can help to reduce anal gland problems.

I have been using Glandex for a few weeks and do not see any improvement. What should I do?

Although typical results occur within 3-5 weeks, some pets may require a longer period of time to see the full benefits of Glandex. In general it may take up to 2-3 months to see the full benefits of Glandex

If you have been using Glandex for several weeks without any improvement, we recommend to increase to twice the recommended dosage. Some pets may require a higher dosage of Glandex (and fiber) to see positive benefits. Finally, if you have not seen any improvement after 8-10 weeks (even with a higher dosage) you may return your order for a full refund

All of our Glandex products come with an unconditional 100% satisfaction guarantee that allows you to return Glandex for a full refund within 90 days of purchase.
